Free expansion of a Lieb-Liniger gas: Asymptotic form of the wave functions
The asymptotic form of the wave functions describing a freely expanding
Lieb-Liniger gas is derived by using a Fermi-Bose transformation for
time-dependent states, and the stationary phase approximation. We find that
asymptotically the wave functions approach the Tonks-Girardeau (TG) structure
as they vanish when any two of the particle coordinates coincide. We point out
that the properties of these asymptotic states can significantly differ from
the properties of a TG gas in a ground state of an external potential. The
dependence of the asymptotic wave function on the initial state is discussed.
The analysis encompasses a large class of initial conditions, including the
ground states of a Lieb-Liniger gas in physically realistic external
potentials. It is also demonstrated that the interaction energy asymptotically
decays as a universal power law with time, .Comment: Section VI added to v2; published versio
Synthetic Lorentz force in classical atomic gases via Doppler effect and radiation pressure
We theoretically predict a novel type of synthetic Lorentz force for
classical (cold) atomic gases, which is based on the Doppler effect and
radiation pressure. A fairly uniform and strong force can be constructed for
gases in macroscopic volumes of several cubic millimeters and more. This opens
the possibility to mimic classical charged gases in magnetic fields, such as
those in a tokamak, in cold atom experiments.Comment: are welcom
Laser assisted tunneling in a Tonks-Girardeau gas
We investigate the applicability of laser assisted tunneling in a strongly
interacting one-dimensional Bose gas (the Tonks-Girardeau gas) in optical
lattices. We find that the stroboscopic dynamics of the Tonks-Girardeau gas in
a continuous Wannier-Stark-ladder potential, supplemented with laser assisted
tunneling, effectively realizes the ground state of one-dimensional hard-core
bosons in a discrete lattice with nontrivial hopping phases. We compare
observables that are affected by the interactions, such as the momentum
distribution, natural orbitals and their occupancies, in the time-dependent
continuous system, to those of the ground state of the discrete system.
Stroboscopically, we find an excellent agreement, indicating that laser
assisted tunneling is a viable technique for realizing novel ground states and
phases with hard-core one-dimensional Bose gases.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figure
Organizational maturity for co-creation: Towards a multi-attribute decision support model for public organizations
The paper conceptualizes a multi-attribute decision support model for the assessment of organizational maturity for co-creation, specifically for public organizations. This is achieved on the basis of a systematic literature review (i.e. content analysis) and analysis of two European case studies of promising collaborative practices (from UK and Slovenia). The co-creation drivers and barriers elicited from these two sources are integrated in a decision support model, thus setting the layout of a multi-attribute decision support model for the assessment of organizational maturity for co-creation. The final model conceptualized here consists of 25 attributes or criteria grouped into three categories: organization capacity, staff capacity, and a wider political and normative context in which public organizations act
Alloxan Induced Cataract in a Rat
We have measured lipid peroxidation and the activity of antioxidant enzymes in lenses
of alloxan injected rats. After 12 weeks alloxan treated rats developed lens cataract.
Diabetes rats had both lower lens weight and lower level of proteins in soluble fraction
of lens homogenate. Alloxan treatment is associated with a significant increase of thiobarbituric
acid reactive substances and the activity of antioxidant enzymes superoxide
dismutase and catalase. However, diabetes decreased the activity of glutathione peroxidase
in rat lenses. These results show that alloxan, which changes antioxidant status
in rat lenses, may cause complications associated with diabetes
Acute Angle-Closed Glaucoma and Meteorological Factors in Split, Croatia
This study is a retrospective analysis of medical findings of patients treated at the
Department of Ophthalmology, Clinical Hospital Split, Croatia in the period of 1995ā
1999. Seventy-three cases of acute closed-angle glaucoma were analyzed and compared
in relation to the meteorological factors ā hours of sunshine, air temperature and atmospheric
pressure. No significant statistical correlation was found between the development
of acute closed-angle glaucoma and air temperature, atmospheric pressure and
mean sunshine hours in all months, except in November (z = 2.1; p = 0.03). The mean
daily sunshine hours on the day of the acute closed-angle glaucoma onset were found to
be lower than the mean monthly sunshine hours. An increased incidence of acute closedangle
glaucoma was found in the winter months (2 = 14.4; p < 0.01). Seasonal variations
of the incidence of acute closed-angle glaucoma in Split cannot be directly attributed
to the meteorological factors, although the correlation between acute glaucoma and
sunshine seems to have a slightly inverse ratio
Organizational readiness for co-creation of public services in the central and eastern european administrative tradition: Development of the conceptual multi-attribute decision support model
Co-creation of public services and policies is considered a promising practice of re-shaping the traditional relationship between the state and its citizens, businesses and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Nevertheless, there are also warnings that the implementation of the process of co-creation could fail. A possible reason is that the organization is not ready or sufficiently mature to implement the process of co-creation. This paper addresses co-creation drivers and barriers identified through systematic literature review and analysis of case studies from two Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. The aim of this paper is to provide practitioners from CEE countries with a conceptual multi-attribute decision support model for evaluating the organizational readiness for co-creation. The methodological framework consists of three steps. The first two steps, content analysis (i.e. literature review) and case-study analysis, were used to identify and analyze drivers and barriers, which are then used in the last step to develop the conceptual multi-attribute decision support model. The developed model consists of 26 attributes grouped into three categories: Capacity of the organization, drivers and barriers related to internal (public organization) co-creators, and context related drivers and barriers. The key points for practitioners are: ā¢Co-creation drivers and barriers affect organizations at the beginning of their co-creation journey (i.e. in identifying the key co-creation success factor at the organizational level); ā¢Co-creation drivers and barriers serve as guidance to organizations that were unsuccessful in co-creation; ā¢The conceptual model supporting the evaluation of co-creation readiness serves as a tool to those that consider implementing co-creation; ā¢The model offers an insight into a possible methodology for evaluation of readiness in different areas; ā¢For practitioners from the CEE region, co-creation drivers and barriers, together with the conceptual multi-attribute decision support model supporting the evaluation of co-creation readiness, offer a roadmap to successful co-creation
